A letter to my representative.

Dear Representative,

Since President Obama told us to contact you, I want to tell you there is something that needs to be fixed. Like, as soon as possible.

That is to say, the operator message whenever you accidentally dial a 1 when you don't need to (which is kind of hard to guess sometimes, especially when you're in an area you may not be used to) or when you dial a number that is no longer in service. The tone that occurs at the beginning of this message is unnecessarily loud and I am sure there are studies done--or maybe they need to be done!--that indicate it ruins We the Peoples' hearing.

Maybe you could just have them turn it down a little. It's worse than television commercials that are much louder than any of the others. Except this one goes right into my ear.

Really. It's pretty annoying.

K thanks,
A Concerned Citizen with Possibly Damaged Hearing
